Hmm... Lots of politicians trying to milk a ton of publicity about language tamer than your average AMB episode. Not much on actual acts of violence.

I did find a reference to a bullet shot through a window of a campaign office, but that was last year, and that was a non-incumbent Republican.

Okay, snark aside, such threats are stupid and non-productive. But I find that its been blown way out of proportion for political gain. To attempt to tar and feather the whole opposition to the Health Care bill, Stimulus Package, Cap & Trade, etc. with the actions of a few.

I'm sure it's comforting to just dismiss opponents with demonization. Hell, it's a game all political philosophies play. It's only helpful if you're a talk show host trying to gin up ratings, or trying to stir up people who already agree with you. Which is why I'm not much for the Rush Limbaugh/Glenn Beck circuses.

A "sinister left wing plant"? Nothing so paranoid. Just a "Let's you and him fight" troll.

And I'm not claiming it. Just offering up the possibility that's what's going on here.

I probably should have trimmed that down to just the "More generally..." sentence to clarify matters.

BTW, has anyone actually taken the bait and done this?

I only know of one discredited report from the Seattle Times about a congressman's Cincinnati office window that got something tossed through it. It turned out to be false as the office is actually on the 30th floor of a building. (Though if true, get that person signed to an MLB pitching contract!)
