Fraser Speirs on the iPad And “Future Shock”

I’m going to jump in on the bandwagon and heap praise on Fraser Speirs’ brilliant analysis of the iPad and the tech world’s reaction to it. I pretty much am in complete agreement, and I wish I had written this.

Does now…don’t know why MarsEdit borked it.

I also found Steven Frank’s “Old World vs. New World Computing” article insightful.

Of course the “Old World” wasn’t a continuum and contained several “shocks” of equal magnitude, as you know. Some of the people raising a stink about what the iPad represents are either too young to remember this, have the retention of a goldfish, are paid contrarians or just short-sighted wankers.

We have seen this before, kiddie-winks. We will see it again. Until then SHUT THE FUCK UP!

What was wrong with the link? I would be curious to know if there’s a bug in MarsEdit that I can fix. If you have any ideas, please let me know!

Honestly I’m not sure that the bug was in MarsEdit. The link looked fine there, but apparently, after publishing to WordPress it ended up looking something like this:

    http://www.theangrydrunk.comhttp://speirs.org/b…

i.e. my url was prepended to the intended one. Opening the post in the WordPress editor showed the proper link, and saving the post fixed everything. I’ll keep an eye out for similar occurrences.

And apparently Disqus is autoformating links. Anyway, you get the idea.

Weird stuff! Sounds like it’s probably a WordPress issue, or perhaps a particular WordPress plugin. The fact that the link was right when you checked means it must have gotten the right value from MarsEdit.

    Thanks for the extra info!
