Good! The jury did the absolutely right thing here. There should be no debate, no deliberation, no contemplation. If you kill people, any people, just because your sky-daddy tells you to, you are a murderer. Now, because I actually have consistent and logical moral beliefs, I hope that this cock-sucker is sentenced to life in prison. Because state-sanctioned murder is just as reprehensible as sky-daddy sanctioned murder.

Agreed. The state shouldn't kill people. If we wouldn't put so many fucking people in prison for stupid ass drug charges, we'd have plenty of places to stuff all the homicidal jackasses we produce. I'll keep my thoughts about those numbers and gun control to myself for now…
That, and living in the general population of a maximum security prison for the next 30-50 years is a much better punishment anyway. The death penalty is way overrated. Be careful in the showers, Scott!
State incompetence leading to innocent people being executed aside, I always thought the death penalty as the appropriate punishment was a weak argument from the pro-execution crowd. “Putting them down” to sate our rage overlooks that this is essentially what we do with our beloved pets when they get old.
Incarceration for life with no chance of parole is a far more satisfying punishment for me. The sadist in me wants these fuckers to rot in a cell, isolated from the world for the rest of their wretched lives.
Besides, in case the xian fundies are anything like the muslim fundies, we wouldn't want to provide them with a martyr, now would we? It's a lot harder to put him up on a pedestal for your mindless death-cult followers to admire when he's getting regular rectal exams from his cellmate…
