I have a theory! It goes like this, the writers at PC World are in fact the same writers at Macworld and are merely writing to take the piss out of PC fans and have some fun around the office. Good one Dan!

There are a few subjects I read about daily. Two of them happen to be politics and technology, with an emphasis on Apple tech. I find it interesting that both of these subjects suffer from the same sort of idiotic, entrenched media that is more interested in shaping Conventional Wisdom than actual reporting.

In both areas, publications tend to run the same two kinds of articles:

1. The CW is still the CW. i.e. "Apple needs marketshare" and "Democrats are in disarray!"

2. The CW is completely backwards. i.e. "Great things that happen to Apple are actually bad for them" and "Great things that happen to Democrats are actually good for Republicans."

It occurs to me the rage centered around both of these topics is frequently not so much about ideology, but about a press that has simply ceased to function. And now, thanks to the interwebs, the reader is quite aware of it. Yet the press refuses to acknowledge this and prefers to pretend the silly readers simply have a comprehension problem.

The genie is not going back in the bottle, fellas.

Of course, the real irony in that argument, which I didn't point out is, the biggest restriction you have when leasing or financing a car is...the ability to resell it.

I touched on that, but there was a lot of stupid to cover and I bore easily. Besides, it's impossible to get it through some people's skulls that the mere act of money changing hands doesn't always give you the unfettered right to "do what you want" with a product.

Interesting. I'd have gone with the "No, you spend $30,000 for a physical piece of hardware, with which you can indeed do whatever the fuck you want, assuming you're not leasing or financing" argument myself.
