@Joe: Answer to your question, Joe. Yes, I think people who make over 250K should contribute back to the society that gave them the opportunity to make that salary. Do you think they just did that all on their own? Do you think that infrastructure, schools and health (I live in UK and have the benefit of free health, thanks Mr. Bevan) costs nothing? Do you want people with no money, and no prospect of getting money, just to die? Is that your thesis? If you're not lucky enough to hit the jackpot in capricious markets then you should get out of the way?

Here's an example - the guy who invented Hula Hoops made a mint. That's cool for him, lucky he hit the market when a craze for daft pursuits was ascendant. Then there's the guy who invented RSA public key encryption 30 years before it got patented - he worked for GCHQ in the UK as a civil servant and died dribbling in a care home. Unlucky that his invention got D-noticed by UK secret service, but nonetheless talented. He could have been a very rich chap, but because he worked in a super-secret cold war bunker he had no way to make money.

So you are wrong. And trotting out the trailer park homily is an inverse of argumentum ad hominem: your argument doesn't get any credence because of who you are.
