That works out to about $17 per per­son PER YEAR. If you believe this, you’re an idiot. This is so ludi­crous, it doesn’t even qual­ify to fall under the header of the usual extreme left wing nonsense.

Joe, that actu­ally sounds about right with economies of scale, and not every­body using the government-provided health­care. Other coun­tries seem to man­age it just fine.

You are either com­pletely and utterly brain­washed by the left, or have no con­cep­tion of sim­ple costs and basic math. If he would have said 50 bil­lion, I would have left exactly the same com­ment, but update the annual fig­ure to $170 — that’s how far removed from real­ity this guy’s state­ment is — c’mon, are you kid­din’ me?! $17 barely buys you a bot­tle of aspirin these days.

And yet my annual pay­ments into Blue Cross was only a –frac­tion– of the cost of my wife’s lumbar-fusion surgery, and con­tin­u­ing follow-up care.

Why can’t $5-billion cover the bill? Don’t most health plans –depend– on the currently-healthy sub­si­diz­ing the cost of treat­ing the currently-ill??

It would only be your $17-per-person if every per­son in the US sought treat­ment in a given year.
